About the Letterboxers
The Letterboxers are a vocal and ukulele duet based in San Francisco. Pairing classically-trained singing with intricate strumming patterns, the two members perform an eclectic mix of mellow folk, pop, and rock music. Winona Hendrick, on baritone ukulele, lends her crystalline voice to a wide range of styles and genres. Over the years, she has been compared to Regina Spektor and Ingrid Michaelson, and draws inspiration from Ella Fitzgerald. John Mansfield, on concert ukulele, is lauded for his imaginative and captivating harmonies, evoking sounds reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkel or Peter, Paul, and Mary. By day, the married couple are SFUSD music teachers, training the next generation of musicians and music lovers. When they aren't performing, Winona and John enjoy “letterboxing” (look it up!).
